19 Books for Every Step of Your Healing Journey

there's something for everyone!

I’m a big reader.

I’ve always got a few books going at once.

One paperback, one or two on kindle, one or two audiobooks.

But I have to admit something…

Up until this year they’ve pretty much all been non-fiction.

😲

Why?

When I was struggling with chronic pain I got in the habit of consuming a ton of non-fiction as I searched for relief. I also always loved learning about all things wellness, health, healing and spirituality.

This year, with encouragement from a friend, I decided to slow down and start enjoying fiction again, and it feels so good! Whether it’s reading fiction, or just lying down and listening to music, anything you can do in life that helps you to slow down and be present, without any pressure to be productive, will be hugely helpful in your healing process.

That being said I’d love for you to benefit from my voracious non-fiction reading habit.

Whether you’re apprehensive about the world of mindbody work, or you’ve done my 12 week program and you’re hungry for more I trust that these books below will be great companions on your healing journey.

Let the book recommendations begin!

You’re needing a scientific perspective on mindfulness:

You want to better understand the impact that trauma can have on the body (and how it could be the underlying cause of your chronic pain):

  1. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk

  2. Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine

The idea that your pain and your anxiety are just parts of you (and not all of you) resonates with you (and you’ve heard that Internal Family Systems therapy is all the rage 🤩 ):

  1. No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz

You have a chronic pain condition or mental health condition that other members of your immediate and/or extended family also have:

You’ve heard that acceptance of your situation is paramount to healing, but that is (understandably) challenging and you need more guidance:

Even with my emails, and my Facebook group, and my program you still want more info on how to use mindbody techniques to heal pain 😁:

Let me know: have you read any of these books? do you have a favorite? do you have one to add to the list?

Happy reading!!
